Trinity Treft: In Phocus Photography business owner, ENHS senior

by Jackie Kessler
Continuing with the new series of articles, our second featured artist is Trinity Treft:
Trinity Treft: I am 18 years old and a senior at East Noble. I love photography and have started my own business in it, and I enjoy basketball (playing and watching). I also am interested in the armed forces.
Jackie Kessler: Tell me a little more about your business. .jpg)
TT: My business, In Phocus Photography, was started in 2010. I am the owner, and there are two other people involved: my partner Kailee Blackman, and my manager, Candy Treft. Kailee generally goes to the shoot with me and Candy handles the business end. Our prices are on the lower end, ranging from $20-$100 depending on the amount of people and time taken. I would never have dreamed that I would be a business owner before the age of 18, and while still attending high school, but I am so proud of myself and have every intention of continuing with my passion and my dream.

JK: What are your future plans, and do they include photography?
TT: I am currently hoping to join the army for combat journalism, and when I finish I plan to open my own studio so that I can do what I love for the rest of my life.
JK: When did you first start taking interest in photography?
TT: I was first intrigued with photography as a child when my mother and I would take trips around the country. She always let me use her camera and often times we would go to art museums (my favorite was always the photography section).

JK: What drew you to photography?
TT: I feel like a photograph is such a unique part of art...you can interpret a photo in so many different ways, and photos can be things from memories with family, to anything you find beautiful (nature, people, buildings etc). To me, photography is my way to not only express myself as an artist, but as an individual. My tastes change and my life evolves, and my photography reflects these moments.

JK: Has art changed your life?
TT: Well to be honest, I was never the most creative kid in class, and I always hated going to art class for school...but with a camera in my hand I just feel like my mind is silent, and the world is my playground. It's almost as if I see the things around me through a camera lens all the time. It's a rather amazing feeling.
